The White Shirt Campaign 2009

White Shirt Campaign Famous Faces Unite

A host of famous faces have united to promote this year's White Shirt Campaign for ovarian cancer research. Stephanie Rice, Antonia Kidman and Carrie Bickmore have all been photographed wearing items from Witchery's eight-piece range that directs 100 per cent of proceeds back to ovarian cancer research.

In Australia, one woman dies from ovarian cancer every ten hours and there is no early detection test. For the first time, menswear has also been added to the collection with the introduction of Witchery Man earlier this year.

While ovarian cancer is a disease that affects women, it also carries a significant and direct impact for men. Without at least one healthy ovary, a child will not be born. Jules Lund, Grant Hackett and Peter Phelps have also given their time to be photographed in these new additions.

"Like anyone, we all have someone in our lives who has been affected and we want to dig deep when we can," said Jules Lund. "It's terrifying to think that there is no early detection test."

Witchery has a proud and extensive history of supporting the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), raising more than $1.5million for the cause. This is the third year that premier fashion title madison has joined Witchery to showcase the successful campaign.

"The ongoing support for this campaign has been immense. We are very grateful to the public and hope, by expanding our collection, that we will raise significant funds for the OCRF," said Witchery CEO Mr Iain Nairn.

Inspired by the classic elegance of a white shirt, this year's White Shirt Campaign takes its cues from the biggest trends around the globe, including a jersey tunic dress, a t-shirt with military vest print and a swing tank with detachable embellished neckpiece.

"We are thrilled to be associated with such an elegant campaign created by two of our premium partners: Witchery and madison," said OCRF CEO and co-founder Ms Liz Heliotis. "Funds will go towards the OCRF's goal to find an early detection test that is habitual as a pap smear or mammogram."

Most women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are already in the advance stages of their disease, which is a direct result of late diagnosis. The limited edition White Shirt collection is available across Australia and New Zealand on 5 October 2009. Participants in this year's White Shirt Campaign are Tim Ross, Antonia Kidman, Stephanie Rice, James Kerley, Grant Hackett and wife Candice Alley, Jules Lund, Carrie Bickmore, Asher Keddie, Maeve Dermody, Les Hill, Peter Phelps, Libby Tanner, Gigi Edgley, Pania Rose and Elise Taylor.
